Spelunky by Mossmouth
From Derek Yu and the development team that calls themselves Mossmouth comes the indie action adventure game Spelunky, which is playable on PC and Xbox 360. As a Spelunker (adventurer/explorer) your task is to explore randomly generated underground tunnels to find treasure and damsels in distress while avoiding traps and enemies. The further you progress in the game, the more challenging the enemies and traps become. However, with greater challenge comes greater treasure.
The enemies included anything from bats, snakes and spiders, humans and monsters. Braving these creatures will allow you to find gold, gems, bombs, guns, climbing gear and artifacts, each contributing to your Spelunker’s score. Supernatural items can be found or created by joining two items together. These items may be scattered through the tunnels or purchase/stolen from shopkeepers.
Spelunky is very similar to Desktop Dungeons, which has been a success among indie games, and Spelunky is no different. If you like the action-adventure-RPG type of game, then pick this one up.
