Flower by Jenova Chen and Thatgamecompany
Another Playstation Network only game from Jenova Chen and Thatgamecompany, Flower is the follow up game to flOw, and allows the player to control the wind to blow a flower peddle. As the player swoops the peddle closer to living flowers, more peddles begin to follow. When enough peddles are accumulated, the world begins to change; colorless fields begin to fill up with vibrant colors and windmills begin to turn.
Similar to Journey, Flower does not have any dialogue or text but rather visual and emotional cues to move the player along. Jenova Chen developed Flower based on the premise that games have a hard time connecting with players emotionally and rarely evoke a set of deeper feelings. Much like its predecessor, Flower won the Best Independent Game of 2009 as well as the Casual Game of the Year. With these honors, does anyone need any other reasons to play this indie game?
