One of the best ways to get known in the independent gaming industry is to release free indie games to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Vlambeer and Super Crate Box are a perfect example of this approach.
The whole idea behind Super Crate Box was to bring the excitement and popularity of the first arcade games where all that matter was the high score. Super Crate Box is a highly addictive indie game that pegs the player against endless hordes of enemies that get progressively stronger the more boxes the player can collect. Each time a crate is collected the weapon changes; sometimes for the best and sometimes not. Vlambeer really “batted” this vintage arcade game out of the park.
